115th Anniversary

August 15, 2017 is National Band & Tag’s 115^th anniversary since its founding in 1902!

For 115 years, we have been a family owned business, manufacturing our products in Newport, Kentucky. National Band & Tag has continued to grow and broaden our product lines over the years, and even to this day, we strive to bring our customers unique, and innovative identification solutions.

1900s

• 1902 – National Band & Tag is founded by Joseph Haas – Poultry leg bands start being produced so neighbors can tell birds a part.

1910s

• 1914 – 2^nd Generation Elmer Haas joined NB&T
• 1918 – Style 681 Ear Tag is created

1920s

• 1926 – 2^nd generation Fred Haas joined NB&T

1930s

• 1930 – National Band & Tag moved to Orchard Street in Newport, KY
• 1936 – NB&T starts selling Rabies Tags
• 1939 – Founder Joe Haas invents rose-colored Chicken Glasses to prevent cannibalism

1940s

• 1949 – The style 49 cattle ear tag was invented

1950s

• 1952 – National Band & Tag moved to York Street in Newport, KY
• 1952 – Celebrated 50^th Anniversary
• 1953 -3^rd generation Don Haas joins NB&T
• 1956 – the style 56 cattle eat tag was invented

1960s

• 1960 – 1600 series of Tongue & Slot Tags are created
• 1961 – 3^rd generation Fred Haas II joins NB&T
• 1962 – International Identification Inc. becomes Incorporated
• 1965 – 3^rd generation Joe Haas Sr. joins NB&T

1970s

• 1972 – The T-Lok Tags are created

1980s

• 1981 – 4^th generation Eric Haas joins NB&T
• 1981 – 4^th generation Faye Haas Wendel joins NB&T
• 1983 – The Hasco brand splits from NB&T and becomes Hasco Tag Company
• 1988 – Bought 1^st laser machine to create barcoded wing bands
• 1989 – 4^th generation Kevin Haas joins NB&T

1990s

• 1994 – 4^th generation Fred Haas III joins NB&T
• 1995 – 3^rd generation Donald Haas retires
• 1996 – 4^th generation Joe Haas Jr. joins NB&T
• 1997 – 4^th generation Brad Haas joins NB&T
• 1999 – 1^st full line all color catalog is mailed out

2000s

• 2000 – USGS Bird Band Contract is established
• 2002 – 100^th Anniversary
• 2003 – 4^th generation Sean Haas joins NB&T
• 2004 – 3^rd generation Fred Haas II retires
• 2005 – 4^th generation Chris Schwalbach joins NB&T
• 2005 – Winner of the Tri-State Family Business of the Year Award
• 2008 – 3^rd generation Joe Haas Sr. retires
• 2009 – Winner of the Tri-State Family Business of the Decade Award

2010s

• 2011 – 5^th generation Lan Haas joins NB&T
• 2011 – 5^th generation Alex Wendel joins NB&T
• 2014 – New logo and Statement of Purpose
• 2015 – 5^th generation Andi Wendel Tabor joins NB&T
• 2015 – 4^th generation Eric Haas retires
• 2015 – Perfect 10 Certified Culture Award
• 2016 – NB&T acquires Hasco Tag Company
• 2016 – 5^th generation Ryan Haas joins NB&T
