World Rabies Day – Share the message. Save a life.

Created and coordinated annually by the Global Alliance for Rabies Control (GARC), World Rabies Day is this Friday, September 28th. This day focuses on rabies endemic countries, to increase community awareness of the disease and its prevention. The World Rabies Day 2018 theme is Rabies: Share the message. Save a life. This highlights the importance of education and awareness to prevent rabies.

This theme is used to not only work towards their goal of eliminating rabies by 2030, but to also communicate messages about vaccinating dogs and treating bite wounds, and dog bite prevention education for children.

To help raise awareness of rabies with children, National Band & Tag has created a coloring sheet of our Style of The Year Rabies Tags. Download and print out the PDF coloring sheet below, and while your child is coloring in the tag shapes, talk with them about the rabies disease. Try going over some of GARC’s FAQs such as “What is rabies and where is it found?” or “Exposure, symptoms and diagnosis”.

To learn more about the mission to end rabies as well as other events going on this World Rabies Day, check out the Global Alliance for Rabies Control’s educational website.

Hasco’s Flex-Lok Plastic Tags

As of May 9, 2016, National Band & Tag has acquired the Hasco Tag Company. One of Hasco’s product lines that we have kept on is the Flex-Lok Ear Tag line for livestock animals. These ear tags are different from other plastic ear tags because all male pieces have an open brass tip and it is the actual applicator pin that pierces the ear. We use a hot stamping machine to create large, black, permanently imprinted numbers and letters on the Flex-Lok ear tags. Multiple colors such as: Black, Blue, Green, Neon Green, Neon Orange, Orange, Pink, Purple, Red, White, and Yellow, are available, but color availability is subject to change based on current stock. Please call for availability of a specific color in a certain style. For those who prefer plastic ear tags for their livestock over our metal ear tags, Flex-Lok is a great alternative.

Hunt Test Bands for Hunting Retriever Clubs

A hunt test is an event where the natural ability and training of gun dogs are tested and evaluated. Hunt tests are organized by the American Kennel Club (AKC), the North American Hunting Retriever Association (NAHRA), and the Hunting Retriever Club (HRC). The AKC awards the titles of Junior, Senior, and Master Hunter for performance in hunt tests. The hunting dogs are put in conditions that are encountered when hunting, and their performance on finding and retrieving birds is how they are rated.

A typical HRC hunt test is divided into two series of evaluations, the land series and the water series. In each series the dogs are evaluated for their natural retrieving desire, memory, marking ability, and obedience to their handler’s commands.

NB&T manufactures Hunt Test Bird Leg Bands, which these competitions use as giveaways to the winners to go on their lanyards. Check out these examples below of our Butt-End Bands that different hunting clubs have used.
