Laser Etched Brass Tags: Frosted vs Non-Frosted

National Band & Tag has a new laser machine that now allows us to successfully laser etch on brass tags. When placing your laser etched brass tag order, you now have the choice of a “frosted” surface. “Frosting” means removing the shine that brass has, to make it easier to read. The examples below on the left with a more yellow look are frosted, and the darker brown samples are regular brass. Brass is hard to take a picture of because of how shiny the material is. The shine will not work in certain environments, so for an additional charge, we can remove it for you. This allows you to have all the benefits of brass material, without the shine.

It’s time to order your 2020 Rabies Tags

The 2020 style of the year rabies tag is the Red Heart.

As we get ready to enter our Rabies Tag season (September – December), our busiest time of the year, we urge all our veterinarian customers to order as early as possible for a quicker turnaround time. The NASPHV recommended tag style of the year is #198 Red Heart.

Why purchase from National Band & Tag?
  • Quick turnaround times
  • Low-cost leader
  • Manufactured in America
  • Multiple shapes and sizes available to fit both cats and dogs
  • Your information, custom stamped to meet your rabies vaccination needs
  • Both 1-year and 3-year rabies tags are available
Here are a few tips to help with your 2020 Red Heart order:
  1. Order enough tags. If you are on the fence about how many tags to order, we always recommend over-ordering. To re-order more tags, it will cost more time and money than if you order 100 more tags than normal the first time. If there are extra tags at the end of the year, you can recycle aluminum tags.
  2. Special orders take more time. If you are ordering something other than stamped tags with standard packing, additional time will be added on to produce your order. This can really affect customers who want to order paint-filled tags that are flat packed in November and December.
  3. Don’t forget to pay for your order. All orders must be paid for before the tags will be produced. (Unless you have an open account). Just call in with your quote number and credit card to pay, mail a check, or pay online.
  4. Review your acknowledgment. After your sales representative has entered your order they will send you an acknowledgment (receipt), please review it to make sure the stamping, quantity, style, color, etc. is correct. Your estimated shipping date will also be on your acknowledgment.

If you have any questions or want to check the status of your order, give us a call at 859-261-2035.

117th Anniversary

August 15, 2019, is National Band & Tag’s 117th anniversary!

117 years ago in 1902, Joseph Haas, opened a small shop in an abandoned barn in Newport, KY. Haas intended to manufacture poultry leg and wing bands. Local poultry breeders were looking to improve their flocks and needed a marker to distinguish one fowl from another. By 1914, the business began to grow and Haas moved to a larger location in Newport, KY. Over the decades, his product line grew with the addition of different animal identification such as livestock and dog tags. National Band & Tag is currently in our 5th generation and has 11 family members working together in our facility.

This year to celebrate our anniversary, we would like to thank all our customers and employees for their patience since we started our new internal software system on July 1st. It has been a learning curve, and there were many kinks to be worked out over the first few weeks. As a company who has been around for 117 years, certain changes need to happen so that we can continue to grow and improve. This new system will allow us to better serve our customers faster and more efficiently.

We have proudly been around 117 years and look forward to the next 117 years as we continue to grow and live out our Vision, Mission, and Values.117th anniversary tags

Custom Wedding Bird Bands

Banded for Life

Did you know, we can create custom duck or goose bands for your proposal, save-the-dates, or wedding favors?

Well, we have a new one to add to the list, Name Card Holders!

One of our creative customers got stamped leg bands and cut slits in the name tags so that they would slide over the sides of the bands. The bands featured below are our Style 1242-20 (5/8″ diameter), Butt-End Bands, in plain aluminum. These are the same types of bands that the USGS Bird Banding Laboratory uses on birds in the wild for research. This couple customized their bands with “Banded On”, the wedding date, and their names. We can customize bands with almost any text. Most couples like to put their wedding date on the second line in a bigger text because then it looks similar to an actual federal band.
