Originally founded in 2005, TuckTec created a Kickstarter in 2019. They raised the funds to move out of their home’s garage into a larger facility where they ramped up production. TuckTec now make 120+ kayaks a day!

Hull Identification Tags are required for all watercraft. Beehive Management Tags

National Band & Tag manufactures asset identification tags for many purposes, but one of the more unique uses is for beehives! Our customer Robert Couchman with BEE KIND Honeybee Rescue goes in and safely removes honeybees from places they shouldn’t be in and re-locates them to his apiaries. He uses our tags on his beehives as part of his apiary management system. Numbered tags allow Robert to track which hives have been tested and treated for parasites, the queen of the hive, and many other important factors for keeping healthy honeybees.

Scout honeybees will go off in search of a new home, and sometimes the home they decide on, is not the most honeybee friendly place. You don’t want to suddenly stumble across a hive of fifteen to twenty thousand honeybees in your house, shed, roof, garage, etc. BEE KIND Honeybee Rescue in Wisconsin helps rescue and relocate honeybees as much as possible. Timing is key, with the best chance for successful relocation being in late March to early September. Early relocation allows the colony to establish a new hive, expand colony population, and store enough honey and pollen to survive a Wisconsin winter.

METAL TAGS

Our heavy-duty metal tags come in a variety of materials to meet your warehouse’s environment. Stainless Steel tags are available for environments with extreme heat or cold, or that deal with harsh chemicals. Colored Aluminum is available for when color coding is necessary, or UV Stable Black Aluminum is available for a high contrasting, easy to read tag. Hole sizes and locations are customizable, so you can have 2 – 4 holes for attaching to a shelving unit, or 1 hole at the top to hang the tag. All of our tags can be customized with logos, numbers, text, barcodes, etc. For barcodes, we offer a 2D Data matrix, Linear Code 39 or Code 128, or a QR Code.

The tag below is an example from a customer who needed an extra-large barcode so they could scan the barcode on the floor while sitting on the fork-lift. PLASTIC TAGS

Plastic tags are an option if you need a temporary ID solution, or something colorful and flexible. We offer .020″ vinyl plastic that is thin and can be nailed or stapled. We also offer a thicker, but still flexible polyurethane material in select styles. Color options vary by style number.

WHAT IS AN ASSET?

Asset: “property owned by a person or company, regarded as having value and available to meet debts, commitments, or legacies.”

WHY DO ASSETS NEED IDENTIFICATION?

Some businesses may want a simple asset tag that has their logo and “Property of” on it to show that the asset belongs to them. Other businesses may want a more complex tag with a serial number or barcode so that they can track the asset. Asset tags are an important part of asset management. Asset tags can help to track an asset’s location, discourage theft, show ownership, track maintenance, repairs, and more. All of these reasons make Asset Tags valuable to both large and small businesses who want to have a proper asset management system in place.

DESIGNING ASSET TAGS – WHAT TO CONSIDER:

  1. Where is your tag going to go on the asset, and where is the asset going to be? This will affect the size and shape of the tag you need, as well as the material. We have metal tags for flat surfaces, labels for curved surfaces, or flexible plastic tags. If your asset is going to be in a harsh environment, a heavy-duty metal tag will last longer than a thin plastic tag.
  2. How are you going to attach your tag to the asset? This will determine if you need holes, slots, or adhesive backing. This will also determine hole/slot size and placement on the tag.
  3. What info do you need the tag to relay? Logo, barcode, phone number, serial number, text, etc. are all things we can customize your tag with, but it’s up to you the tell us what information and numbering you want.

Why stamped and laser etched tags are better than printed tags

National Band & Tag manufacturers stamped and laser etched industrial asset tags. These two methods are more durable than printed tags for environments that use harsh chemicals. Why? Because stamped tags, the lettering is indented into the material. For laser etched tags, the laser removes a layer of material to create the words. As you can see in the picture below, the harsh chemicals took the printed text right off the tag, because the text is on the surface of the tag, not in it. If the text has been physically etched or indented into the tag, then it would be impossible to wipe away. Below are some examples of where printed asset tags on equipment have had the text wiped away with chemicals.

A lot of printed tag manufacturers tend to use .020″ thick aluminum tags. At NB&T we use .050″ aluminum! MATERIAL:

The most popular material for power pole tags is UV stable Black Aluminum material because it is guaranteed to last outdoors for 20+ years. UV Stable Black Aluminum also has high visibility for easy reading with the white letters on a black background. Plain (silver) aluminum is also popular for simple, stamped, cost-effective tags. Non-corrosive stainless steel is another option for extremely harsh environments.

CUSTOMIZATION:

Pole Tags are custom made to meet your identification needs. Tags to mark the poles as assets may have a company logo on them (see tag featured above). For an inspection or inventory purposes, poles will need more information on them such as a unique identification number.

NUMBERING / TEXT: A stamped number on a tag is the simplest type of identification that we can provide. We specialize in sequential numbering and also offer custom numbering. With laser etching, we can change the text font, size, and thickness to your liking.

BARCODES (QR CODE, LINEAR, OR 2D DATA MATRIX): We offer three different types of barcodes that range from QR Codes leading to a website to a 2D data matrix that can hold a large variety of information. Laser Etched Brass Tags: Frosted vs Non-Frosted

National Band & Tag has a new laser machine that now allows us to successfully laser etch on brass tags. When placing your laser etched brass tag order, you now have the choice of a “frosted” surface. “Frosting” means removing the shine that brass has, to make it easier to read. The examples below on the left with a more yellow look are frosted, and the darker brown samples are regular brass. Brass is hard to take a picture of because of how shiny the material is. The shine will not work in certain environments, so for an additional charge, we can remove it for you. This allows you to have all the benefits of brass material, without the shine.

This week (May 18th – 24th)  is National Safe Boating Week and Tomorrow, May 23rd is World Turtle Day. We are celebrating both holidays today with our HIN Tags and Sea Turtle Tags.

National Safe Boating Week is a program of the National Safe Boating Council to promote boating and life jacket safety. This campaign kicks off the weekend before Memorial Day when a lot of people will take to the water. Before you dust off those water skis this Memorial Day, also take the time to make sure your HIN (Hull Identification Number) Tag is up to date on your boat! Asset Labels are custom laser etched and custom shaped with a laser. These heavy-duty labels are made from a military-grade 3M™ 7847 polyacrylic matte black stock. Crematory Tags:

COMPANY TYPES: Crematoriums, Mortuaries, Funeral Homes, Pet Cremations

USE: 304 Stainless Steel stamped tags are used to identify both human and pet remains as they go through the cremation process to ensure proper identification at all times. 304 Stainless Steel tags will not melt in the crematorium, so they are able to go in the fire and stay with the remains.
