COMPANY TYPES: Crematoriums, Mortuaries, Funeral Homes, Pet Cremations
USE: 304 Stainless Steel stamped tags are used to identify both human and pet remains as they go through the cremation process to ensure proper identification at all times. 304 Stainless Steel tags will not melt in the crematorium, so they are able to go in the fire and stay with the remains.
COMPANY TYPES: Landscape Architecture Firms, Plant Ecologist, U.S. Forest Service, Tree and Lawn Care Services, Lumber Production Companies, Arborist Consultants, Tree & Stump Removal, Arborist/Forestry Supply Stores
USE: There are many types of tree tags available, but a stamped #137 is popular for the above companies because their main goal is to number and identify specific trees. The trees could be numbered for a multitude of reasons, from labeling diseased trees, trees to cut down or save, trees to trim and more. A plain aluminum 137 is durable enough to last outside, while also being discreetly visible on the tree.
COMPANY TYPES: Veterinarians, Municipalities, Cities, Counties, Humane Societies, Animal Shelters, Kennels, Animal Hospitals, and Clinics.
USE: Rabies Tags indicate that an animal has had its rabies vaccine. Cities and counties use License Tags to show that your pet has been licensed in that area. General dog and cat I.D. tags are used by animal shelters, humane societies, SPCA’s, etc. to I.D. the animals in that company’s care.
COMPANY TYPES: Surveying Companies, Survey and Mapping Equipment Suppliers,
USE: These tags have a hole in the middle for a nail to go through so that it can be attached to the ground, trees, and other objects for surveying and mapping points of land. Usually, the surveyor’s license number is stamped on the tag.

USE: Pole Tags are used on power poles, telecommunication poles, and other wood poles to identify that they have been inspected. Pole Tags can range from a small, simple stamped tag with the year on it, to a large barcoded tag that makes inspection easier by scanning the barcode.

USE: Valve & Pipe Tags identify the flow of what is inside the pipes and relay important information and identification at the point of need. Boat Hull Identification Tags
A hull identification number, or HIN, is the unique serial number assigned to a boat. HIN tags are a federal requirement, and are used to identify boat manufacturers defects, recalls, and help in theft situations.
Are you a boat owner in need of a new HIN (Hull Identification) Tag? As of January 1, 2017, before taking any action related to a boat imported or manufactured on or after November 1, 1972, the issuing authority must determine whether the vessel has a properly formatted hull identification number. HIN numbers are 12 characters long like the examples below.

Food Grade Stainless Steel
National Band & Tag’s newest material is a food grade 316 stainless steel material that can stand up to the harsh environments in the food processing industry, marine environments, and laboratory facilities.
Style 14 – 1 7/8” x 3” – Stainless Steel
316 stainless steel is more durable than 304 stainless steel against heat, harsh chemicals, caustics, solvents, and other substances found in the food processing industry. These tags will not corrode away and barcodes will stay readable. 316 stainless steel tags are thicker than 304, which makes 316 great if you plan to weld your tag onto an asset or a piece of equipment.

June is National Safety Month, and to celebrate we are listing 8 different ways that Asset Tags and Asset Labels can be used to promote safety in the workplace by properly identifying hazardous materials and equipment.

- Type 304 Stainless Steel Asset Tags can be used in harsh environments and extreme heat or cold. One customer uses them to keep employees safe in and around their liquid nitrogen tanks.
- Type 316 Stainless Steel is used for the food processing industry and is “food grade stainless steel”. It can stand up to harsh chemicals so these tags are used to ID food processing equipment, because they won’t rust, or corrode and contaminate the food.
- Colored Aluminum comes in multiple colors and is great for valve tags, inspection tags, and other warning signs because they can come in bright, visible colors such as red, yellow, and orange. A few different customers use red aluminum for inspection tags so that it is noticeable if the items have not been inspected.
- UV Stable Black Aluminum is great for labeling assets and equipment outdoors. One customer uses these tags to label electrical equipment with voltage warnings.
- Plastic Tags are available in pink, yellow, white, or orange. These colored tags can be used to color code items that need to be inspected. Colored Apron Tag Discs (style 85V) are marked with the year and are rotated after inspection.
- Snap-Off plastic tags are available for quickly identifying an item. These tags can be used to label temporary or permeant hazards. Some customers staple the plastic tag to wood pallets with staple guns.
- Asset Labels are made from military grade 3M™ 7847 polyacrylic matte black stock. They can be custom shaped and designed to meet almost any safety ID need. One customer uses QR Codes on Asset Labels to label equipment. The QR Code then leads to a website with instructions, safety protocols, and contact info if assistance is needed.
- Asset Labels promote safety by labeling containers that hold chemicals. The flexibility of the Asset Labels allows for an ID on rounded containers where a flat metal tag would not fit.

Wet Tumble Your Stainless Steel Tags
We manufacture all our metal tags here in our factory, which means there are different tag finishes that we can provide for our customers.
For stainless steel tags, we like to recommend wet tumbling for a smooth finish. It is only an extra $15/1000 tags (Special Charge H) and it will remove any rough edges on your tag. This is an easy way to ensure that if your tag is dangling and someone grabs it, they will not harm themselves on a sharp edge. If your tag is going to be mounted, then you might not need the wet tumble finish. Polishing is recommended for any stainless steel tags that are going to be used as keychains or be handled often. A Look Back at 2016
It has been an exciting and busy time here at National Band & Tag this year! Besides growing our product lines, we also grew our business with the acquisition of Hasco Tag Company back in May. We are very excited to welcome all our new Hasco customers to the National Band & Tag family, and look forward to providing everyone with identification solutions in 2017!

NB&T has been stamping metal bands and tags for over 113 years. We specialize in stamping sequential numbering and laser etching custom, or non-sequential numbering. When you need every tag to have unique information on it, consider our laser etching service. Laser etching is an affordable alternative to stamping. The surface etching created by the laser is suitable in most environments and applications.
Your list of assets can be etched into individual metal or plastic tags for high visibility, better security, safety, compliance, inspections or just getting things organized to help your employees be more productive! This is an electronic process, thus, we do need data formatted as a simple text file. Here’s how to transfer your data.
Our .040” black anodized aluminum is UV stable and works great for long term outdoor applications. We also offer a wide variety of colored aluminum products and stainless steel for those special environments that require this metal.
