It’s time to order your 2018 Rabies Tags!

2018 rabies tags

Here are a few tips to help with your 2018 Orange Oval Rabies Tag Order:

  1. Order enough tags. If you are on the fence about how many tags to order, we always recommend over-ordering. If you must re-order more tags, it will cost more time and money than if you order 100 more tags than normal the first time. If you have extra tags at the end of the year, you can recycle aluminum tags.
  2. Special orders take more time. If you are ordering something other than stamped tags with standard packing, don’t forget to account for additional weeks onto the time it will take to produce your order. This can really affect customers who want to order paint filled tags that are flat packed in November and December.
  3. Don’t forget to pay for your order. All orders must be paid for before the tags will be produced. (Unless you have a Net 30 account). Just call in with your quote number and credit card to pay, or mail a check.
  4. Review your acknowledgement. After your sales representative has entered your order they will send you an acknowledgement (receipt), please review it to make sure the stamping, quantity, style, color etc. is correct. Your estimated shipping date will also be on your acknowledgement.

If you have any questions or want to check the status of your order, give us a call at 859-261-2035.

(These numbers are not a true representation of our sales overall, but show what our customer service reps get the most phone calls about).

At NB&T, we have hundreds of styles of tags to choose from, so we asked some of the employees, what is your favorite tag style and why?

Ryan (Global Accounts): Style 60 – “It was the first tag I ever sold, and I like the 60 versus the 61 because it has the dog stamped on it.”

World Rabies Day – Educate, Vaccinate, Eliminate

world rabies dayToday, September 28, 2016 marks the 10th annual World Rabies Day celebration! This day is used to educate people on the effects of rabies, so that more people get their pets vaccinated and thus help in the battle to eliminate rabies.

The Global Alliance for Rabies Control (GARC), World Health Organization (WHO), World Veterinary Association and the World Animal Protection Organization currently have a new campaign called “End Rabies Now” which is calling for an end to human deaths from dog-transmitted rabies by 2030.

“It is estimated that around 59,000 people die every single year from rabies – that’s a staggering 885,000 lives lost between now and the end of 2030. Victims are usually in impoverished rural areas in Africa and Asia. Most have limited access to healthcare, and treatment can be too expensive. The campaign will raise awareness in Europe and the United States, where canine rabies has largely been eliminated in most countries in the region, in order to ensure that control programs are prioritized within international development spending.”

Which packaging is best for you?

While the tags are the most important part, attachments and how you want your tags packaged are important too! Do you need some help deciding on what kind of packaging is right for your company? Check out our multiple ways of packaging Rabies Tags below.

Standard Packing is 100 tags to a wire, 500 to a box. This allows you to package the tags yourself in-house, or just take them off the wire as needed.

standard packing

Standard Packing

Strip-Pak is 1 tag and 1 attachment in a plastic bag. Bags are perforated on a continuous strip. This makes it easy to rip a bag off when you need it to give to a customer.

Flat-Pak is 1 tag and 1 attachment laminated to sturdy card stock. This method is used for sending tags through the mail. Barcoded labels are available, call for a quote.

USDA Dog Tags

In the United States, all commercial dog breeders are required by the Animal Welfare Act to identify their dogs with an official United State Department of Agriculture (USDA) Dog Tag. Dogs that require tags are puppies 16 weeks old or older, dogs temporarily at the facility for breeding, personal pets used for breeding, intact personal pets not used for breeding but housed with breeding dogs and spayed/neutered dogs housed in the kennel
USDA Dog TagWhen ordering your USDA Dog Tags from National Band & Tag, we will need a few pieces of information from you so that we can manufacture your order:

  • Your USDA License Number, or numbers identifying the State and dealer, exhibitor, or research facility
  • Your starting serial number
  • Quantity
  • Style
  • Material

We offer brass, stainless steel, or a durable aluminum material to choose from for your tags. As far as tag styles, the USDA requires a round, circular tag to hang from the collar, or an oblong shaped tag with two holes to be riveted to the collar. The standard for the round tag is 1 1/4” inches (style 137) and the standard for the oblong is the 3/4” x 1 1/4” inch (style 143), but we have multiple sizes to choose from. See all of our round tags here and all of our oblong tags here.

The stamping on the tag should be similar to the example above with your license number, number identifying the dog, and the letters “USDA”

When ordering your tags, don’t forget your attachments! We have S-Hooks or Rings for hanging tags, and rivets for tags to be riveted onto a collar. Check out all our fasteners here.

What Colors of Aluminum Do We Have?

One question that we receive at National Band & Tag often is about our colored aluminum and what shade it is. You’ll see a chart of the colors we offer below, however, keep in mind that different computers and devices show colors differently. This means a blue tag on your smart phone might look a different shade of blue on your desktop computer.

aluminum colors

Dog, Cat, and Industrial Tag Aluminum Colors

Also, when we purchase our material, there is a certain amount of shade variation from one order to another. One batch of red may not be the same shade of red as another. It usually stays within a certain color range, but we cannot guarantee that the red tag your received last year will be the same exact red you get this year.

The most accurate way to see a color is to request free samples of the styles you are interested in. Our free samples come from overruns of current orders so it is coming from our current material stock. Colors can vary by products as well and by what we have in stock. Please contact a sales representative at 859-261-2035 to find out what colors are available or what can be ordered.

Our aluminum colors for dog, cat, and industrial tags include: plain, red, blue, green, orange, yellow, gold, black, white and purple.

Our aluminum colors for wing bands and poultry products include: plain, red, light red, blue, light blue, green, light green, yellow, orange, light orange, pink, light pink, purple, light purple, brown, light brown, tan, black, gray and white.

National Cat Day

national-cat-dayOn October 29, we celebrate a day dedicated to one of the most popular American owned household pets. You guessed it; National Cat Day! Approximately 30-35% of American households own a cat, that’s approximately 70-75 million cats.

On your cat’s day, show them you love them and care for them.

Similar to dogs, cats also need three tags on them at all times:

Although more dogs get lost each year, cats still need identification and a way to return home as well.

Make sure your cat’s day is purr-fect! Let them toy with your shoestrings and cuddle up next to you.

What’s your cat’s name? Does he/she have a license tag?
