Tongue & Slot Tags for Electrical Wire Harnesses

What do automobiles, construction machinery, and aircraft have in common? They all have lots of wires inside of them! These wires and cables are all bound together into a wire harness. The cables are bound together by straps, cable ties, electrical tape, conduit, etc., to keep all the wires together in an easy to handle bundle. Wire harnesses make installation of them easier, as well as optimize space. To make sure that you have the correct wires in the harness, or that the harness is correctly put into place, proper identification is key. National Band & Tag’s tongue and slot style tags are perfect for wire harnesses because they come in multiples sizes, and can be customized with your information.

Boat Hull Identification Tags

A hull identification number, or HIN, is the unique serial number assigned to a boat. HIN tags are a federal requirement, and are used to identify boat manufacturers defects, recalls, and help in theft situations.

Are you a boat owner in need of a new HIN (Hull Identification) Tag? As of January 1, 2017, before taking any action related to a boat imported or manufactured on or after November 1, 1972, the issuing authority must determine whether the vessel has a properly formatted hull identification number. HIN numbers are 12 characters long like the examples below.

Wet Tumble Your Stainless Steel Tags

We manufacture all our metal tags here in our factory, which means there are different tag finishes that we can provide for our customers.

For stainless steel tags, we like to recommend wet tumbling for a smooth finish. It is only an extra $15/1000 tags (Special Charge H) and it will remove any rough edges on your tag. This is an easy way to ensure that if your tag is dangling and someone grabs it, they will not harm themselves on a sharp edge. If your tag is going to be mounted, then you might not need the wet tumble finish. Polishing is recommended for any stainless steel tags that are going to be used as keychains or be handled often. Not sure which finish is right for you? Just request free samples of each finish here!

A Few of Our Favorite Tags

Do you have a favorite tag?

At NB&T, we have hundreds of styles of tags to choose from, so we asked some of the employees, what is your favorite tag style and why?

Ryan (Global Accounts): Style 60 – “It was the first tag I ever sold, and I like the 60 versus the 61 because it has the dog stamped on it.”

1242 duck bands

Aris (Bilingual Sales Representative): Style 890 – “The Zip is my favorite wing band because a lot of my customers like the style, colors and options available. I love recommending design options if they are unsure of what they want. My customers always end up happy with the final product.”

Hybrid tags are some of NB&T’s most unique tags because they feature both engraving methods – stamping and laser etching! We specialize in stamping sequential numbers and laser etching barcodes and logos.

Customized Tags

NB&T has been stamping metal bands and tags for over 113 years. We specialize in stamping sequential numbering and laser etching custom, or non-sequential numbering. When you need every tag to have unique information on it, consider our laser etching service. Laser etching is an affordable alternative to stamping. The surface etching created by the laser is suitable in most environments and applications.

customization on personalized tags

Your list of assets can be etched into individual metal or plastic tags for high visibility, better security, safety, compliance, inspections or just getting things organized to help your employees be more productive! This is an electronic process, thus, we do need data formatted as a simple text file.  Here’s how to transfer your data.

Our .040” black anodized aluminum is UV stable and works great for long term outdoor applications. We also offer a wide variety of colored aluminum products and stainless steel for those special environments that require this metal. And finally, we also offer a wide variety of plastics which are flexible and can take a great deal of abuse.

Although most of the images created on these materials are high contrast (dark image on a light surface or light image on the dark surface), we can creatively adjust the images for a more striking contrast. There are many effects we can use to create the look you are after as well. Please take some time and browse the galleries on our laser etching page. We have created a large display of examples to help our viewers dream up their ideas!

When you buy customized tags from NB&T, we treat every order like they were your business cards. We want you to be happy with them! How can we layout the image to give you the best impact? The best way is for you to sketch or show us a picture of something you would like it to look like. The old saying a picture is worth a 1,000 words applies here! Looking for custom tags to spruce up your place or to show when something was serviced? Give us a try, our team at NB&T will be happy to help you.

Durable Stainless Steel Identification

stainless steel tags on liquid nitrogen tanksTags that stand up to harsh environments are needed in many industrial applications and whether it be extreme hot or cold, our 304 stainless steel tags can stand up to the task! Below is a picture provided by a customer of our stainless steel tags in their liquid nitrogen tank. They have been very happy with their tags because even when covered in frost, the large, bold, laser etched letters and numbers are still highly visible. This high visibility allows our customers to conduct their research and identify each box in the tank without having to reach in and pull it out.

These tags are one of our most popular tags, style 14, rectangular with rounded corners, 1” x 3” inches. We offer two different thicknesses in this material, .030 and .047. These particular tags also have a 3/16” x 5/16” slot so that they can easily swing around the handle.

What type of environment do you need tags for? We’d be happy to send samples and work with you to find the perfect form of identification for you!
