World Rabies Day – Share the message. Save a life.

Created and coordinated annually by the Global Alliance for Rabies Control (GARC), World Rabies Day is this Friday, September 28th. This day focuses on rabies endemic countries, to increase community awareness of the disease and its prevention. The World Rabies Day 2018 theme is Rabies: Share the message. Save a life. This highlights the importance of education and awareness to prevent rabies.

This theme is used to not only work towards their goal of eliminating rabies by 2030, but to also communicate messages about vaccinating dogs and treating bite wounds, and dog bite prevention education for children.

To help raise awareness of rabies with children, National Band & Tag has created a coloring sheet of our Style of The Year Rabies Tags. Download and print out the PDF coloring sheet below, and while your child is coloring in the tag shapes, talk with them about the rabies disease. Try going over some of GARC’s FAQs such as “What is rabies and where is it found?” or “Exposure, symptoms and diagnosis”.
